Mark Ayotte is in his 22nd year as the
Director of Sports Medicine, and 22st year as a member of the
Fairfield University staff. He came to Fairfield in August
1987 as an assistant athletic trainer, before taking over his
current role the following year.
As the Director of Sports Medicine, Ayotte is responsible for
overseeing the Sports Medicine Department, including a staff of
four certified athletic trainers. He is the primary staff
member for the Stags men's basketball, field hockey and men's and
women's tennis teams.
After earned his undergraduate degree at Indiana
University-Bloomington in 1980, Ayotte spent the 1980-81 academic
year as an assistant athletic trainer at MIT. In 1981 he
accepted a similar position at Iona College, in New Rochelle, N.Y.,
a post he held until moving to Fairfield.
Ayotte, a Glastonbury, Conn., native, resides in Trumbull, Conn.,
with his wife, Gail Marion, and their son, Nathan (3).
