Before Fairfield
Carta was a four-year starter at Mercy High School where she led the team to the 2006 Connecticut Class LL state championship as well as three Southern Connecticut Conference titles. A three-year All-SCC player, Carta proved herself to be a solid defensive shortstop with a strong arm and good range. Her defensive tools helped her earn All-State recognition as a senior. With her athleticism and versatility, Carta will have the  opportunity to complete for one of the open infield or outfield positions this year. Off the diamond, Carta was a member of the National Honor Society and was student president at Mercy High School. Carta also played with the Connecticut Tradition, which won the Pony Nationals in 2008. She lists psychology as her major.
