
Softball Drops Pair Of Game On First Day Of Rebel Games

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Fairfield University softball team opened its spring swing with a pair of losses at the Rebel Games. The Stags dropped a 3-0 decision to Lehigh University in the first game, and followed up with a 6-1 setback to St. Bonaventure.
In the opener, Lehigh scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, courtesy of a Alisha Gonzales RBI single which sent home Alex Cueva with the game's first run. Carly Potack would chase home Gonzales with a two-out single to make the score 2-0. Lehigh added another run in the third frame after Lisa Sweeney lofted a sacrifice fly. Jenna DiBernardo went two for three for the Stags while starter Sarah Minice struck one hitter in her five-plus innings of work.
The second game started with St. Bonaventure scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning and added two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead. Fairfield scored its only run in the sixth inning when Danielle Iovino hit a solo home run. Allie Ritacco recorded two of Fairfield's three hits.
