Fairfield University Director of Athletics Gene Doris announced today that the school has hired Danielle Blean as an assistant coach of the field hockey team. She takes over for Cheri Herr, who has accepted an assistant coaching position at Providence.
Blean will aid in recruiting and scouting as well as team defense instruction. She was a four-year letterwinner at St. Joseph's University in Pennsylvania. The midfielder was an NFHCA First Team Region All-American in 1994 and 1995. A captain in her senior season, she helped lead her squad to the Atlantic 10 Tournament title and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Blean earned her bachelor's degree in marketing in 1995 and recently served as the Director of Merchandising and Group Sales for the Philadelphia Rage. She is also a coach for the USFHA Futures Olympic Development Program.
