
Field Hockey Drops Decision To Yale On The Road

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to Yale University on the road Sunday afternoon.
Yale took control of the game early with three first-half goals, a run which started 11 minutes into the game. Marissa Waldemore converted a pass from Julia Weiser at 11:18 to push the home team in front by a 1-0 score. Just over 15 minutes later, the score moved to 2-0 when Mary Beth Barham knocked home her second goal of the season after Mia Rosati sent a pass into the circle at 27:08.
The Bulldogs finished off the first half scoring after Ashley McCauley netted her 11th goal of the campaign , an opportunity which started with Dinal Landshut's assist. Yale put the game out of reach with three goals in a 20-minute span during the second, beginning with Waldemore's second goal of the game at 45:44.
Lexy Adams and Lesley Kiger tallied the team's fifth and sixth goals respectively, the first goal of the year for both student-athletes. Charlotte Goins and Katie Bolling shared the goal keeping duties for Yale, combining for one save in the shutout. Fairfield goalkeeper Maddy Sposito (two saves) saw her first action of the year for the Stags, as she gave way to Caitlin O'Donnell (eight saves) in the second half.
The Stags return to action on Saturday, October 24 when they travel to New Hampshire for a 1 pm game.
