DURHAM, N.H. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision to New Hampshire in an America East game.

The two teams played solid defensive field hockey in the opening 12 minutes before New Hampshire used a pair of quick goals to take control of the game. Whitney Frates opened the scoring with an unassisted goal from the center of the circle. Melyssa Woods doubled up the lead when she deflected a loose ball past the goalkeeper just a minute later.

Meg Shea scored her 20th goal of the season to close out the first half scoring, finishing off a play which started with a penalty corner. Shea would also score in the second half which put the home team in front by a 5-0 count. Leah Boody sandwiched a goal in between the two scores by Shea, opening the second half scoring at 48:27.

Boody came back with the team's sixth goal, putting home a shot off a Shea pass with under two minutes remaining in the game. Fairfield goalkeeper Caitlin O'Donnell made one save in the first half before yielding to freshman Maddy Sposito. The rookie posted five assists in her 35 minutes for the Stags.
