ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team surrendered five goals in the first 20 minutes of the game en route to a 7-1 loss to nationally-ranked University at Albany on Saturday afternoon.

The Great Danes, ranked 20th in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association national poll, grabbed the lead just three minutes into the game when Inge Baijens converted a cross directly in front of goalkeeper Caitlin O'Donnell. Albany used a flurry of shots a few minutes later, netting three goals in a span of less than three minutes. Nicole Savage recorded the first two goals in the run, while Baijens finished off the flurry at the 13-minute mark.

Suzy Celphane finished off the first half with the home team's fifth goal, and later added another goal in the second half. Fairfield averted the shutout when Marit Westenberg tallied an unassisted goal with two minutes remaining in the game.

Fairfield goalkeepers O'Donnell and Megan Ambrose split the game with O'Donnell registering three saves and Ambrose picking up two saves in the second half.
