Field Hockey Ends Two-Game Road Trip With 4-0 Loss Against Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team surrendered three second-half goals which led to Villanova University's 4-0 win over the Stags. The three goals were scored over a 16-minute span in the second half.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Lauren Wuzzardo converted a pass from Abby Bordoni just four minutes into the game. Jennifer Utz kept the Stags in the game with a pair of first-half saves as Villanova outshot the visitors by a 5-3 count in the opening half.

The home team dominated the second half by outshooting the Stags by a 7-1 count, as Utz added another pair of stops to her credit. The Wildcats improved their advantage to 2-0 when Bordoni scored a goal which was set up by Dana Ramsden. Ramsden picked up another assist eight minutes later when Emily Donaldson made the score 3-0 at the 49 minute mark.

Ramsden finished her day with a goal at 57:24, courtesy of a cross by Meg Ryan. The Stags were outshot by the oppostion for the first time this year as Villanova held a 12-4 advantage. Villanova goalkeeper Maura McCormick made one save to record the shutout
