2007 Season: Byrnes started all 16 of her appearances in 2007, but missed the last four games of the campaign due to injury. She enjoyed her best offensive season with three goals and two assists for a team-best eight points, her first offensive numbers since her arrival. Byrnes scored a goal in two of Fairfield's three wins a year ago. She netted the game winning goal in a 1-0 decision over Robert Morris University, the last game in which she played. She also tallied two goals in a 3-2 win over Saint Francis, scoring a career-best four points in the game. She also tallied an assist against Virginia Commonwealth as well as Iowa.
2006 Season: Byrnes came off the bench in 14 games, all which came over the final 15 dates on the schedule. She was inserted into the lineup to bolster the team's play around the midfield area, contributing both offensively and defensively. Her role increased dramatically during the 2006 campaign, giving her the experience that may lead to an expanded role in 2007. Byrnes managed one shot during the season, putting the ball on goal against Robert Morris in the season finale.
2005 Season: Byrnes did not appear in any games due to injury. Her strong play up front could lead to scoring chances for both her and her teammates. The forward has a great deal of versatility that allows her to spring free for an open shot, or to set up one her open teammates with a pass. Byrnes could see her minutes increase as she becomes more experienced inside the arc.
Before Fairfield: Byrnes put up impressive
numbers as a forward at Greenwich Academy. During her career,
Byrnes tallied 50 goals and 27 assists for a career total of 127
points. She was the team's leading scorer for the 2002 and 2003
campaigns. Byrnes also excelled on the ice, contributing as a
member of the Academy's ice hockey team. She collected FAA All-Star
honors in both sports three times during her scholastic career.
