Gavin helped Mount St. Joseph High School to three Catholic Academy League championships and two Pennsylvania AAA District 1 titles during her four-year career. The team was the state runner up in 2006, and made the state semifinals in 2006. She was a two-year starter at Mount St. Joseph, where she secured Catholic League All-Star honors and second team all-state accolades in 2006. As a senior, Gavin received All-Area honorable mention and was first-team All-State. Gavin was also a member of the Mount St. Joseph lacrosse team, and collected the team's most valuable player award in 2008. She participated at the 2005 National Hockey Festival U-16 tournament as a member of the Mystx, which went on to win the pool championship. The Mystx also won the 2006 and 2007 U-19 Pool A title. The team went overseas and played in Hockeyfest in Sydney. She also went overseas with Mount St. Joseph, as the team played tournaments in Rome and Amsterdam.
