2007 Season: Nieuwenhuis wasted little time in making an impact on the program, playing in 18 games as a rookie. Her 18 appearances were most among her first-year teammates. She also garnered three starts during the campaign, securing a spot against Columbia, Robert Morris, and Maine. She missed just two games in 2007, missing the Virginia Commonwealth and Saint Joseph's game in early September. The forward had one of two goals the team scored against America East foes, netting the team's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Maine. She finished the season with two total points.
Before Fairfield: Nieuwenhuis
has international experience that may help her challenge for a
regular role with the field hockey team this year. She played both
during the indoor and outdoor seasons in Holland, making her one of
the more experienced players among the newcomers. Nieuwenhuis
played club field hockey with Cartouche in Voorburg, before
becoming a member of Team Ferior upon her graduation from high
school. With her experience. Nieuwenhuis could become a staple in
the Stags lineup by season's end.
