Men's Pair Picks Up Where It Left Off With Win At Head Of The Riverfront

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Despite making a switch from sweeping to sculling, Ben Andrews and James Jessup continued their winning ways by capturing first place in open doubles at the Head of the Riverfront.

The duo won all of its races with the exception of one last year, taking third place at Dad Vails as a pair. This year, Andrews and Jessup accepted the challenge of switching from one oar each to two oars each. The change was not a factor as the pair finished 90 seconds better (23:24) than runner-up Trinity.

"In order to keep the two guys fresh with a new challenge, we decided to have them primarily sculling in a double for the fall season instead of sweeping," Head Coach Dave Patterson said.

Andrews and Jessup will now turn their focus on keeping their unbeaten mark alive at this weekend's Head of the Housatonic in Shelton, Conn.
