Petre, Adams Named To All-NEILA Second Team

Fairfield men's lacrosse senior Matt Petre and sophomore Brent Adams were selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Second Team, announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Petre, a defender, is honored by the regions coaches for the second straight season with a second-team selection.  He started all 13 games for the Stags and led the way with 24 caused turnovers.  He finished the season second on the squad with 37 ground balls and also touched net for the first time in his career.

Adams enjoyed a successful freshman season, leading the team in scoring with 27 points.  An All-ECAC Lacrosse League Second Team selection, he netted a team-best 16 goals, while also dishing out 11 assists.

The Stags finished the 2009 season at 7-6 the program's first winning season since 2005.  Fairfield finished in third place in the ECAC, its highest finish in its four-years in the league, having posted a 4-3 mark against league foes.
