Adams Named ECAC Lacrosse Rookie Of The Week
Apr 27, 2009
Fairfield University men's lacrosse player Brent Adams (Norwalk, Conn.) was named the ECAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week award on Monday. Chris Ajemian (Duxbury, Mass.) and Charlie Cipriano (Williston Park, N.Y.) were named to the ECAC Honor Roll.
Adams, a graduate of Norwalk High School, earned his first weekly award, though he has been named to the league's honor roll five times this season. In two games this week Adams tallied two goals, including a man-down tally in the win over St. John's. He dished out an assist in the Stags game against UMass in the final week of the regular season for Fairfield. Adams finished the year as the team leader with 27 points and 11 assists.
Ajemian had a career day in his final week, scoring five goals and dishing out one assist. He also had 12 ground balls in the two weeks and caused six turnovers. Cipriano made 12 saves in just over 51 minutes of action against St. John's, his ninth double-digit save effort of the year.
The Stags finished the year at 7-6, the program's first winning season since the 2005 squad went 11-5 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Fairfield finished 4-3 in ECAC play, good for at least a tie for third place, the team's best finish in its four years in the league.
