The #19 Fairfield University men's lacrosse team had its four-game win streak snapped on Saturday by #20 Georgetown, 11-8, in an ECAC Lacrosse League contest in Washington, D.C. The Stags fall to 6-3 on the year and 3-1 in the ECAC, while the Hoyas improve to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The teams traded goals in the first-quarter, with Georgetown striking first, eight seconds into the contest. Jake Samperton put the Hoyas back on top 95 seconds later, and the score remained 2-1 for over six minutes. Brent Adams fed Ajemian a pass for the 2-2 tie with 3:52 to play in the first quarter. The Hoyas tied the game at 8:17, the first of a three-goal spurt in a 3:14 span, taking a 6-4 lead into the locker room.
Georgetown ran the unanswered goal streak to four goals on a Zack Angel goal midway through the third-quarter, resulting in a 7-4 lead. Snellman's tally at the 5:52 mark of the third ended the run, making it 7-5, but the Hoyas struck for the next three goals, building a 10-5 edge with 8:07 to play in the fourth quarter. The Stags out scored Georgetown 3-1 in the final 5:43, including two goals in the final 83 seconds of play, but could not make it all the way back.

A bright-spot for the Stags on the afternoon was the impressive effort of the man-down unit. Fairfield was a perfect 5-5 in man-down situations, not allowing Georgetown to score a goal in four minutes of extra-man play. Fairfield was 1-2 in man-up chances on the afternoon.
Billy Honovich picked up a team-high four ground balls, as did Adams, while also causing two turnovers. Matt Petre had three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers in the contest.
Fairfield won just 4-22 face-offs on the day and lost the ground ball battle 44-23. The Stags cleared better then their host, going 17-21, while the Hoyas were 14-21. Both teams committed 25 turnovers in the game.
The Stags will continue their stretch of six-games in seven outings on the road at Yale on Saturday, April 11. Game-time is set for 7 p.m.
