Men's Lacrosse Begins RoadTrip At Marist On Tuesday

Game Notes

The Fairfield men's lacrosse team begins a three-game road swing on Tuesday, traveling to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for a non-conference contest versus Marist College.  The Stags enter the game at 2-2 overall, while the Red Foxes are 1-2 on the year.

Both teams were involved in one-goal games on Saturday.  The Stags fell 13-12 at home to Colgate, while the Red Foxes earned their first win of the season, also at home, 7-6, over Canisius in overtime.

The game marks a little bit of a homecoming for Stags head coach Andy Copelan, who began his coaching career on the banks of the Hudson River.  He was hired as a graduate assistant in the fall and was elevated to interim head coach that winter.  All Copelan accomplished in that role was to lead the Red Foxes to the MAAC Lacrosse League regular season crown and earn MAAC Coach of the Year accolades.  After being named the head coach in the summer of 2004, Copelan led Marist to its first-ever NCAA Tournament berth in 2005.  In his two seasons, Copelan posted an 18-15 mark at Marist.

The Stags have four players who have tallied a team-best six goals.  Chris Ajemian and Brent Adams, who lead the team with 11 points, along with Logan Rausse and John Snellman have all touched net six times this season.

The game at Marist is the first of six of the next seven games for Fairfield that will be played on the road.  The Stags are 0-1 in road games this season.
