Men's Lax Opens ECAC Play At Home Versus Rutgers Saturday

The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team, 1-0, will open ECAC Lacrosse League play at home on Saturday versus Rutgers University, 1-3.  It is the league opener for both teams and will be played at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.

Fairfield and Rutgers are meeting for the fifth time in the program's history and for the fourth time as ECAC foes.  The Stags have a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series, winning the last three meetings.  The Scarlet Knights earned a 7-6 triple overtime win in the 2004 meeting, the only non-conference clash.  The Stags first win came in the programs first-ever ECAC Lacrosse League game, at Rutgers, 11-7 in 2006.  The Stags only home win in the series came two years ago, 14-10, and Fairfield won its third straight in the series in the rain last year at Rutgers, 10-7, with the Scarlet Knights ranked 19th in the nation.
