      <title>Anthony Johnson Named To Pre-Season All-Connecticut 6 Team</title>
      <link>http://fairfield.prestosports.com/sports/m-baskbl/2009-10/news/ct_6_preseason</link>
      <description>FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Six student-athletes were selected for the 2009 Pre-Season All-Connecticut 6 team this afternoon. The players were chosen by the head coaches of the six schools, namely Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, and Yale University.&#xD;
&#xD;
	Central Connecticut junior guard Shemik Thompson (Milton, Del.) earned a spot after placing second on the team in scoring last season with an 11.5 scoring average. He led the team and was third in the Northeast Conference in assists with 135, which was the seventh single-season total in Central Connecticut history. He also led the team in steals with 57 a year ago.&#xD;
&#xD;
	Fairfield senior forward Anthony Johnson (Lake Wales, Fla.) was named to the team after leading the Stags in rebounding with 7.4 caroms per contest. He was also the team's top shot blocker with 43, averaging better than two rejections per contest. He averaged 9.2 points per game through 21 games in 2008-09 before his year was cut short after 21 games.&#xD;
&#xD;
	From the University of Hartford, Joe Zeglinski (Philadelphia, Pa.) is part of the Connecticut 6 team after averaging 15.2 points per game. The junior guard is a true three-point threat, averaging better than three baskets from behind the arc a year ago. He posted 24 assists against just nine turnovers through ten games last year, before an ankle injury ended his season.&#xD;
&#xD;
	Justin Rutty, a junior forward from Newburgh, N.Y., represents Quinnipiac on the pre-season team after nearly averaging a double double a year ago. He placed second among his teammates with 14.8 points per game and led the team with a 9.8 rebounding average. He was also the team's most accurate shooter, netting 60 percent of his field goal attempts.&#xD;
&#xD;
-more-&#xD;
&#xD;
	Sacred Heart's Corey Hassan (Merrimack, N.H.) earned his spot on the team after averaging 11.4 points per game overall and 12.6 points per outing during Northeast Conference play. He was one of two Sacred Heart student-athletes to reach the century mark with 100 assists in 31 games. He started 20 of his 31 appearances in 2008-09.&#xD;
&#xD;
	Alex Zampier (East Greenbush, N.Y.) will serve his Yale teammates as captain for the 2009-10 campaign. He is looking to become the Bulldogs next 1,000-point scorer, needing 360 markers to reach the mark. He led the Ivy League with a .848 free throw percentage, and was eighth in scoring with 13.2 points per game. He was the team's top three-point shooter with 42 long-range jumpers.&#xD;
&#xD;
	Fans will be able to see all of these student-athletes in action this Friday, November 13 as the inaugural Connecticut 6 Classic takes place at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The triple header begins with Sacred Heart and Yale playing at 5:30 pm, followed by Fairfield battling Central Connecticut at 7:30 pm. The night finishes up with Quinnipiac taking on Hartford at 9:30 pm.&#xD;
&#xD;
	Tickets are available at the Arena at Harbor Yard box office or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $5 for students from participating schools and children between the ages of 2 and 12.</description>
