Men's Basketball Announces Complete 2009-10 Schedule
Sep 18, 2009
FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's basketball schedule is complete for the 2009-10 season as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) portion has been added to the previously announced non-conference slate. The Stags will have 15 away games and 14 home contests this year, with 11 dates at the Arena at Harbor Yard and three dates at Alumni Hall.
The men's basketball team has added one more game to the Alumni Hall schedule, hosting the College of the Holy Cross on December 9. The Stags will also host Fordham University at Alumni Hall on November 15, giving the schedule nostalgic feel to start the season. Holy Cross and Fordham both played frequently at Alumni Hall, meeting Fordham 17 times and Holy Cross on 14 occasions.
The Stags open the MAAC portion of their schedule on December 3 when Marist College comes to the Arena at Harbor Yard. Fairfield completes its opening MAAC weekend with a road trip to Saint Peter's College on December 5. Fairfield plays against nearly all conference opponents once the New Year rolls around, starting with a trip to Buffalo. The Stags take on Canisius at the HSBC Arena on January 2, part of a doubleheader with Niagara and Rider, before playing Niagara on January 4.
The lone exception to conference exclusivity is the Bracket Buster game on February 19 or 20, which will be an away game. Fairfield's longest home stand of the 2009-10 campaign comes during mid-January when the Stags hook up with Loyola (January 8), Manhattan (January 10), Siena (January 16), and Canisius (January 18).
The regular-season schedule comes to a close at home as well with Iona (February 26) and Niagara (February 28) bringing an end to the schedule.
