Ryan Olander looks to earn playing time at the forward position this year. He can play inside the paint, or can hang outside and create offensive chances. The forward has a soft touch from the outside, but also has the ability to take the ball to the basket successfully. With his size and mobility, Olander poses a threat defensively, especially with his knack for blocking shots.

Before Fairfield
Olander tallied over 1,100 points and grabbed 500-plus rebounds during his career at E.O. Smith High School. He ranked among the team's top scorers throughout his career, especially with his 20 points per game as a senior. As a junior, he tallied a personal-best 21 points per game. He netted 32 points in a game twice, accomplishing the task against Windsor and Bulkley. Olander established career records at E.O. Smith for blocked shots in a season as well as in a career. He also established a standard for rebounds in a season. He was an All-Conference player twice, and earned All-State accolades. He was also named to the Hartford Courant first team and the New Haven Register second team. Olander captured the team's most valuable player in his final two campaigns. Off the court, Olander received Academic All-Conference honors four times and Academic All-State twice.
