Men's Basketball Takes National Stage When It Plays Canisius On ESPNU Friday Night

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University men's basketball team plays a pair of games in upstate New York, beginning with Canisius College on Friday night. The game is scheduled for a 7 pm tip-off on ESPNU.

The Stags look for their third straight win on Friday after sweeping a MAAC weekend against Marist last Friday and Loyola on Sunday. Greg Nero and Yorel Hawkins each posted a double double in the Loyola game with Nero leading the way with 19 points and a 14 rebounds. Hawkins posted 13 points and secured 12 boards in the win. Nero leads the team with a 13.5 scoring average, while Hawkins is averaging 6.6 points per game.

Canisius comes off three straight losses which included a 68-55 decision against Rider last Sunday. The Golden Griffs own a 4-4 record at home this season, but have not been since January 17 against Iona. Frank Turner is the team's top scorer with 15.1 points per game, while Julian Coles is averaging 12.1 points every contest.
