FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University Department of Athletics has reached an agreement with WTNH News Channel 8 and WCTX MyTV9 to televise three Stags basketball games as well as a 30-minute sports magazine show beginning this Saturday.
"Stags Country" is a half-hour sports news-magazine format that will include feature stories about Fairfield University student-athletes in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. The first of three shows will air on News Channel 8 on October 24 at noon, and will be rebroadcast on MyTV9 on November 14 at 7 pm.
The show will be hosted by Sports Team 8's Noah Finz. Kendra Farn will join Finz as a reporter for the show. While dates have not been set for two other editions of "Stags Country", the additional shows will most likely air in January and April. Both shows will be aired on News Channel 8 initially with a replay on MyTV9.
Fairfield University will also produce three basketball games this year for broadcast on MyTV9. The two men's basketball games on the broadcast schedule for this season are - January 16 against Siena and January 30 versus Rider. The women's basketball team will host Marist College on February 9 to finish off the three-game schedule.
"I am very pleased to strike a partnership with WTNH and MyTV9,"
Athletics Director Gene Doris said. "The University is excited
about being able to bring our men's and women's basketball teams to
a statewide audience three times in 2009-10. And, the Stags Country
television show will tell the many stories that make Fairfield
University such a special place."
